Sitting here waiting……..

Just wish I was sitting at the railway station, but I’m not. Chance to ride my bike would be ideal, it’s not happening, as this wimp won’t dare take to the roads if there’s ice about. Quite plainly there is most definitely a very strong possibility of that. Just seen a gritter lorry speed up the hill here, dropping salt on the roads. Clear blue skies bode well for freezing temperatures tonight, nightmare!
It’s so frustrating, not being able to get out on my bike. Got up at 07.30 this morning to go for a ride, to clear my head of these sniffles I’ve got developing. Went out to check the conditions, only to find frozen puddles, and frosty roads. Past memories of falling and hitting the ground hard came flooding back, and sent me back indoors with my tail between my legs.
Spent an hour on the internet, read a few blog posts by regular bloggers, had some breakfast and returned the front room to normal after painting the walls. Much to her indoors distaste, I’m a decorator who has to move everthing out of the room that’s to be given the Michael Angelo touch. And I’m so slow.
I’ve never been a fan of decorating, and I feel sorry for her indoors, because of my shortcomings in this area. She has so much to put up with!
Then we had to go shopping, don’t get me started about Christmas! “I don’t believe it”, I hear the Victor Meldrew inside me say. Unless of course Santa has a new bit of cycling kit for me?
Just like there’s no chance of there not being any ice and frost in the morning, it’s just not going to happen. Bah humbug!
I entirely sympathise about the ice. We’ve been iced up for a week now but I am hoping that tomorrow may be OK.
Hope the ice diappears for you tomorrow.
Get the tyres I have from Father Christmas, problem solved. Or spend a fortune on a recumbent trike. Either will do.
You can get a KMX kart for < £1000. Tyres probably the best option though, unless there are lots of very steep downhills.
I’m toying with the idea, dithering, I should say. This problem arises every year, it’s not a new scenario for me, and I still haven’t got a set of winter studded tyres! Procrastination is my middle name. What dissuades me most from doing it, is the possiblity that I’d be so cautious even with studded tyres fitted I’d take far too long getting to work. I’m a slow coach anyway. It’s too late for this winter, I hope,
Yep same here, ice most days last week. Cycled to work each day, except Monday when it was hard to stand up, let alone cycle. As I,ve got older the ground has got harder or maybe I’ve just got soft. Roll on spring.
Yes, I’ve got softer and more brittle, if that’s possible. Anyway, it hurts too much, not only physically, but dignitywise as well. Is there such a word as ‘dignitywise’? I don’t mind the biting cold, but ice!!!! Not good, and means no cycling for me.
